Google Docs



Technology supported writing can improve all phases of writing – planning, transcribing, and editing and revising, as well as, providing students with a new ways to obtain information. It allows students to share, edit, and collaborate among writers, teachers, and peers helping students see writing as a means of communication. Technology also transforms writing enabling students to compose and create using various types of multimedia such as, print, still images, video, and sound. Google Docs provides this opportunity and so much more!


Index Cards - Google docs allows to creatively create traditional research index cards right on the screen. Students are guided with questions on each card to help them stay focused and organized as they collected their research. Teachers and students can comment and respond with feedback allowing multiple viewers to chat and edit the document at the same time from different locations.

Essay Writing - This is a valuable tool that students can easily access to assist them through each step of the writing process. This template provides students with a breakdown of each component that makes up a five paragraph essay and is supports each part with detailed definitions, questions, and examples to help guide students through this process

5 W's - Google docs allows teachers to create an exciting template to guide students through the writing process. Each slide asks students a different question to help keep them focused and organized. The slides are colorful and have a background picture relating to the question which offers students a fun new way to write their stories. Editing and revising is easy and enjoyable because the teacher and other students can provide each other with comments and suggestions right on the document or through chat.
